TEMPTATION

Dear children of God, let us not yield to temptation, but let us ready to face to win temptation. Temptation means entice a person to do wrong or foolish and forbidden things. Allure or put in to test or trial. Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trail, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life. Gold is tested for its purity, only through trial in the fiery furnace. Students are tested for their qualifications through exams. The test only makes them qualified to go higher educations. Job seekers are tested through interviews to find good jobs. In spiritual real we have to go through trials and temptation to attain the crown of life. Adam and Eve were put in to trails and temptation but they failed. They have lost the Eden’s life. Jesus Christ is our role model to win the trials and temptation to receive the crown of life.

 

HOW WE TEMPTED? :- When we try to satisfy our just needs with the help of world, flesh [lust] and Satan; then it allow us to live and manage our needs with ourselves without God’s help. That’s what happened to Adam and eve. They forgot God’s words and they decided to follow satanic words of luring and confusion. They wanted to become gods to decide things and do things; but the truth was they did not become gods or angels. They wanted to do things without God’s consultation; they were chased from the presence of God.

 The next step is we need cleanliness in our inner man. Like sweet yellowish mango fruit, we look fresh and sweet appearance; but our inner man is corrupt with black bug [insect] in the sweet mango. Whenever we are persuading to do things in our own way and our will and wish, then we are put up in trail. Each man or person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his or her own desire. Eve did three things outwardly by seeing, tasting and eating through her eyes. The inner heart desire of eve performed the disobedience. Dear friends when we are enticed in our inner heart; then we lose the control of heart and we fulfill the desire.

Do it Lord for me, this kind of testing may come by the tempter.  Without believing God’s words eve had surrendered to her eyes’ lust. Dear children do not pray as your heart’ desire says. This kind of prayer insisting God to do his promise words to come as soon as possible. This is to test ourselves to what has said. Our God will do and accomplish things at the right time; we need not to insist him to do. Righteous man will live by faith on the word of God. Not live by faith which creates in him or her. Adam and eve wanted to become gods to receive the power of ruling and take the place of God. The pride to become gods to receive worship became fall of Adam and eve. I decide my life; I do not afraid anybody is the pride which Satan brings as a temptation in our hearts, so we have to be careful. When we try to steal the worship from Our God which is belongs to him; then it will bring us to the end of pit.

Lastly when temptation knocks at the door of inner man; let us must have awareness to avoid the temptation, otherwise it will take place in the loophole and it will come and occupy the place. The inner man starts to recollect the old lust or evil things or forbidden things and try to do things vigorously. To conquer the inner man conflicts no need to get counsel from the world but to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil [tempter].

How to conquer temptation?

Dear friends, let us follow the God’s words and Jesus Christ who conquered the world, flesh and Satan. Thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spread the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. So let us then with great confidence draw near to the throne of grace to conquer the temptation that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. NO TEMPTATION HAS OVER TAKEN YOU THAT IS COMMON TO MAN. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

1.   The devil said to Jesus that if you are the son of God, commands this stone to become bread. And Jesus answered him and said, it is written, Man shall not live by bread alone’ but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Jesus did not allow the temptation; he was always depended on God to do his will and to please him. He was familiar with the God’s word and he used it to avoid temptation.  We should be very careful about our needs of foods, dresses, and life facilities and etc. we should not give more importance to our food dress and other life facilities; if not the tempter will overcome us and we will fail in our attempts. We should give more importance to the word of God, which comes out of his mouth. Let us obey and keep the word of God to win temptation like Jesus. 2. Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “ if you are the son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, He will command his angels concerning you’ “on their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone”. Jesus said to him again it is written; you shall not put the lord Your God to the test. Again Jesus used God’s word to rebuke the devil and confirmed that God’s word is written. He did not prove himself as son of god to throw himself from the top of the temple’s pinnacle. But he rebuked devil with the word of God. 3. Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdom of the world and their glory. And said to him, all these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me. Then Jesus said to him, be gone, Satan! For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve. Jesus did not allow the devil to cheat him by sayings that all things belong to him. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein. So Jesus rebuked the devil, be gone, Satan for it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God and him only and shall you serve. Then the devil left Jesus and he conquered temptation. Dear children of God, therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish the flaming darts of the evil one; and take up the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all the times in the spirit, with all prayer and supplication.

Dear friends, let us not allow the satanic devices and tricks or enticement in to our life. Let us follow the footsteps of Jesus who won the temptation. Let Jesus and his words are in our heart to conquer the temptation. Put on the whole armor of God to win the crown of life.
