MIRIAM

MIRIAM

Dear friends let us learn lessons from Miriam‘s life. She is the elder sister of Moses. Her life and service for the Lord God is the challenge to our modern life. Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. Every situation was changed, and the people of Israel underwent the period of tribulation. And he said to his people, Behold, the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and if war breaks out, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land. Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, when you serve as a midwife to the Hebrew women and see them in the birth stool, if it is a son, you shall kill him, but if it is a daughter, she shall live. In this critical situation house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. The woman conceived and bore a son, and that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the’ reeds by the river bank. Here the role of Miriam starts as a role model and exemplary to the believers and sojourners.
CARING MIRIAM: - More responsible Miriam was so active to watch over the brother who lay in the basket and placed among the reeds by the river bank. She had a good character of obeying her parents to watch over her brother’s fate.   It was a great danger to leave the child and place it among the reeds by the river bank.  There was a danger of crocodile or fish to consume the baby boy or any other animals or people to kill the child. At the same time Miriam watched over the child with love and concern, because the child may cry for milk or cry for the mother’s comfort. She was watching wisely by hiding herself. Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it. When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, this is one of the Hebrews’ children. Then Miriam boldly came to Pharaoh’s daughter and said, shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew woman to nurse the child for you? And the Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, go. So Miriam went and called the child’s mother. Miriam brought her mother, so she brought her brother to grow in her home. She had a part to bring out a great leader to guide the Israelite from the bondage.CELEBRATING MIRIAM:- Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron and Moses was celebrating the victory over the Egyptian who drawn in the red sea. Miriam had organized the women folks to celebrate the victory. She took the tambourine in her hand and played with victory song. All the women flocks went out after her with tambourines and dancing. And Miriam sang to them a song. Sing to the lord, for he had triumph gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host he cost into the sea and his chosen officers were sunk in the red sea. Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, and doing wonders? The Lord will reign forever and ever.
COMPLAINING MIRIAM:- Miriam had very good character in her life and at the same time she had a character of complaining.  This character brought her a low estate of warning from the Lord. This Miriam’s character is warning for the believers. She complained against her brother Moses the great leader. Moses had very good character, which God loved.1. Moses was a very meek more than all people who were on the face of the earth.2. He was faithful in all God’s house.3. Man of Forgiving. 4. He was an advocate. 5. God spoke to him mouth to mouth and he beholds the form of the Lord face to face. Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses the man of God because he had married a Cushite woman. And they said has the lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has not spoken through us also? And the lord heard it. We must be careful about our words because God hears our words. Suddenly, God said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, come out you three, to the tent of meeting. The three of them came out. The pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the tent and God called Aaron and Miriam, and both of them came forward. And God said hear my words: if there is a prophet among you. I the lord make myself known to him in a vision. Not so with my servant Moses. He is faithful in my entire house. With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? The anger of the Lord kindled against them. When the cloud removed from over the tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, like snow. Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold she was leprous. And Aaron said to Moses “Oh, my lord, do not punish us because we have done foolishly and have sinned. Moses cried to the Lord, O God please heal her—please. But the Lord said to Moses, if her father had but spit in her face and after should she may not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut outside the camp seven days and after that she may be brought in again. She was jealous and complaining against the servant of god and she was punished. She was a warning to keep our words and deeds carefully; otherwise we have to reap the consequences.Dear friends, let us learn a great lesson from the life of Miriam. Like Miriam let us have the character of loving and caring our brothers and sisters. Let us celebrate the victory of God with singing songs with tambourine and dancing. She was dancing with women flocks and celebrated the salvation of God.  Let us be vigilant about our words and complaints, God hears our words against God and man. Suddenly he punishes for that kind of sins. Aaron and Miriam humbled themselves and confessed their foolish deeds and sins.  Our God is our father who forgives our sins and heals. He healed Miriam and her leprosy. Let us turn to the Lord and commit ourselves and he will forgive our sins and heal our sickness.  If you learned a lesson from the life of Miriam, kindly share with others and send a word to my email        id. revsjc@gmail.com, revsjc12@hotmail.com, johnchelliah857@yahoo.com,
