TAKE ROOT DOWNWARD AND BEAR FRUIT UPWARD

TAKE ROOT DOWNWARD & BEAR FRUIT UPWARD

Dear children of God take root downward and bear fruit upward, this is the promise was given to the remnant people of Israel and King Hezekiah. Let us believe this word of God and let us own this promise and this promise will come to overtake us. Today we are going to see how King Hezekiah take root downward and bear fruit upward. He was sick, and about to die, but the word of God says that he will take root downward and will bear fruit upward. The word of God never fails. Sure, God’s word came and fulfilled in his life. King Hezekiah was like a dried tree, because he was so sick, and the prophet of Isaiah brought God’s word that he won’t be alive, surely he shall die. So he has to settle in order his households. But he prayed to God, and said, “Please O Lord, remember me, how I walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight. Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father; I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord, and I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria.

Dear friends let us note down the good things found in King Hezekiah ‘life. His father Ahaz shut down the gates of the temples and he brought all abominations in the holy altar of God, and he broke down the altar of God. But King Hezekiah did what is right in the sight of God with all his whole heart and faithfulness. Here listed down his good service to the Lord his God with whole heart
1.

In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opens the doors of the house of God and repaired them.2.       He brought in the priests and Levites and assembled them and said, hear me, Levites! Now consecrate yourselves and consecrate the house of the Lord your God of fathers and carry out the filth from the holy place. For our fathers have been unfaithful and have done what was evil in the sight of the Lord our God. They have forsaken him and have turned away their faces from the habitations of the Lord and turned their backs. They also shut the doors of the vestibule and put out the lamps and have not burnt incense or offered burnt offerings in the holy place to the God of Israel. Therefore the wrath of the Lord came on Judah and Jerusalem, and he has made them an object of horror, of astonishment, and of hissing, as you see with your own eyes.3.       As the King had commanded, by the words of God to cleanse it, the priests went into the inner part of court to cleanse it, and they brought out all the uncleanness that the Levites found in the temple of the Lord and carried out to the brook Kidron.4.        Then the King Hezekiah rose early and gathered the officials of the city and went up to the house of God and restored the temple worship.5.       He stationed the Levites in the house of God with cymbals, harps, and lyres, according to the commandment of David and Gad. He commanded that the burnt offering be offered on the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the songs to the lord began also, and trumpets accompanied, the whole assembly worshiped, and they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed and worshiped.6.       Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the Lord at Jerusalem to keep the Passover to the Lord, the God Israel. For if you return to the Lord, your brothers and your children will find compassion with their captors and return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his from you, if you return to him.  So the couriers went from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh and as far as Zebulm, but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them. However, the hand of the Lord was with Judah to give them one heart to do what the King commanded by the word of the Lord. Many people came together in Jerusalem to keep the unleavened bread, a great assembly.

7.       Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah and he did what was good and right and faithful before the Lord his God. And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.

How King Hezekiah take root downward and bear fruit upward?     1.    God has heard his prayer.2.       God has seen his tears.3.       He healed him from sickness.4.       On the third day he went to the house God to praise and worship the Lord who healed him.5.       He was added fifteen years in his life.6.       King Assyria was defeated and God sent his angel and struck down 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians.7.       This shall be the sign for you; this year eats what you grow of itself, and in the second year what springs of the same. Then in the third year you sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruits. And the surviving remnant of the house of the Israel shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward.8.
