WISDOM

WISDOM

Dear children of God wisdom is a great assert that we should acquire it. Man and woman are searching for wisdom through higher studies, and through gaining knowledge. We are told that the beginning and essence of wisdom is the fear of the Lord. [Pro1:7, 9:10].Proverb often contrasts the benefits of seeking wisdom without God’s fear. The wicked stumbles in ‘deep darkness’ but the path of the righteous is the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day. When Solomon became king God asked him, what do you want? If we were in that position, we should have asked the Lord many things entirely different. But Solomon asked God to grant him wisdom and knowledge to rule his people in a right way. God was pleased in his appeal, so he granted him wisdom and knowledge and he granted him wealth, honor and fame what he did not ask God.

Solomon built a great temple of God by the wisdom of God and he spoke 3000 proverbs and his wisdom and fame spread all through the world. People from all through the countries came to seek his wisdom and knowledge, which God granted him. Solomon increased by knowledge and wisdom day by day, but he did not follow the instruction of his father king David. He did not care to obey the voice of God and the rules and commandments of God. Even though he acquired knowledge and wisdom, his fall started, because of his disobedience of God. He spoke many proverbs and philosophical words for life by his wisdom, but that did not help in his life or save from his great fall.

Solomon enjoyed his life as his heart wanted. By his wisdom, knowledge, money, wealth, ruling, 1000 wives, he wanted to get fullness in his life, but he has failed to calculate whether it was right or wrong. When Solomon had forgotten the fear of God, what he had spoken healthy advices did not work out in his life. We are accountable to God who has given us wisdom and knowledge.

Christ is the wisdom and power of God. For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment I will thwart. Where is the one who is wise? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it is pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified a stumbling block to Jews and folly to the Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. Do you know why?  This world’ wisdom is foolishness before God. Man is inventing many new and great things and they are wonders of the scientific world. But he could not travail against God’s wisdom.  When man falls in the sick bed, what all he invented could not help him to save his life. God’s wisdom is not of the world, but it belongs to the eternal. If wisdom separates man from God, that is not God’s wisdom. If we want to grow in God’s wisdom, then we must fear God and walk in his ways.Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. Solomon’s thought provoking proverbs and scholarly presentation helped the people to understand clearly about God’s expectations, justice and mighty acts. But once when he met a critical situation, he could not face it with equanimity and courage with all his wisdom and knowledge. He became more desperate and distraught. Obviously, the question that arose in many a mind was, how can a person who knew the Lord so much, lose his faith?Solomon possessed a good wisdom and knowledge about God but had not known him in a personal way. Our ritual based belief and traditional spirituality based on general information will not be enough to help us face problems in life. Knowing God is different from possessing knowledge about God.Dear friends, David did not learn Theology but he knew God very intimately. That’s why David overcame situations by God’s help and he leaned on God, and he did not lean on his wisdom or knowledge. Solomon had wisdom and knowledge yet he did not know God intimately. Solomon had allowed the situations to overcome him, and he leaned on his own wisdom and knowledge, so he failed. We need to seek God and try to experience his presence within us every day. Knowledge of God and wisdom of God gained from our personal experience helps to stand with courage and confidence in the face of any hardship. Mere wisdom and knowledge will not help in times of crisis or sickness. It will never infuse courage to face any adverse situations. Wisdom and knowledge is born out of intimate relationship with God can send a ray of hope into our gloomy situations.
Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.  The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. Without God our wisdom and knowledge is mere waste, and that won’t be satisfy us. Solomon had found out the truth in his old age, but Job had found out the truth that even in his sufferings. Lord let us fear every day to walk in your ways, to cling to you in all situations, but not our own wisdom and knowledge. Amen.  Dear children if you are blessed by this wisdom, kindly share with others and send your comments to my email ID. revsjc@gmail.com, revsjc12@hotmail.com, johnchelliah857@yahoo.com,
