JOESPH [A FRUITFUL VINE]

GEN49:22- Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over the wall.

Dear children of God, today we are going to study about Joseph’s life and how he became fruitful bough and how could he bear fruits in his life. How he became a channel of blessings to his brothers, families, others and Egyptians? By the hands of the Mighty one of Jacob, by the God of his father, who blessed and helped him to become a channel of blessings. We can also become a channel of blessings to others through the Almighty God of Jacob. What all the qualifications Joseph had to become a channel of blessings. From the childhood of Joseph God was with him. This is first foremost thing Joseph’s life. God of blessings with a person becomes a channel of blessings and he also blessed.

Let us realize the fact that whether God is with our day today life. If God with us who can stand against us? Yes, no one.  The Lord was with Joseph, and he became a success full man. His life became blessed and he highly exalted before the eyes of his brothers. God only rises up the poor people from the dust and he lifted up the needy from the ash heaps and makes him to sit with the sit of princes. That’s what happened in the life of Joseph and he became a ruler of Egypt next to Pharaoh.

Joseph was a man of obedient and he obeyed God and his father. Israel said to Joseph, “Are not your brothers pasturing the flock at shechem? Come, I will send you to them.”And he said to him, “here I am”. So he said to him, go now, see if it well with your brothers and with the flock, and bring me word. Joseph obeyed his father and went to shechem to seek his brothers to bring word to his father. The first step of blessing and a channel of blessing is obedience. Obedience brings blissful life. When we disobey God’s commandments, we lose the blissful life and Eden’s life. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God and they lost the blissful and Eden’s life.

Joseph was a man of holy and he had God’s fear to away from sin. Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. And after a time his master’s wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, “Lie with me “. But he refused and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, because of me my master has no concern about anything in the house, and’ he put everything that he has in my in-charge. He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has kept back anything from me except yourself, because you are his wife. How can I do this great wickedness and sin against God? And as she spoke to Joseph day by day, he would not listen to her, to lie beside her or to be with her. He kept his holiness and not allowed sin in him to defile his life. Sin brings disgrace to life.

Joseph was a man of caring and sharing their troubles and sufferings. One night they both dreamed-the cupbearer and the chief baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison –each his own dream with its own interpretation. When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were troubled. So he asked pharaoh’s officers who were with him in custody in his master’s house, “why are your faces downcast today?’ They said to him we have had dreams and there is no one to interpret them. And Joseph said to them, do not interpretations belongs to God? Please tell them to me. Even though Joseph was suffering in the prison without doing any wrong, he did not think about his own troubles and sufferings, and he was very much concerned about the two people who were troubled. He revealed their dreams and interpreted its meanings and it fulfilled in their life.

Joseph was a man of Holy Spirit filled life. When Joseph interpreted his dreams, Pharaoh found out that and said to his servants, “can we find a man like this, in who is the spirit of God? Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “since God has shown you all this, there is none as discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order them as you command. Only as regards the throne and will I be greater than you. The Holy Spirit who was with him helped to reveal Pharaoh’s dreams and gave wise to rule Egyptians. The gift of Holy Spirit is discerning, and Joseph was possessed that discerning spirit

Joseph was a man of positive and loving. When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “it may be that Joseph will hate us and pay back for all evil that we did to him.’ So sent a message to Joseph, saying, ‘your father gave this command before he died, Say to Joseph ,Please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father, Joseph wept when they spoke to him. His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants. But Joseph said to them, fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones. Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

Love covers all the sins. Joseph’s character matches Jesus Christ’s character. Jesus said on the cross and praying for the people those who crucified on the cross. “Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”. Joseph also forgave his brothers and he loved them and comforted them. These are the characters made Joseph a fruitful bough and blessed. Joseph was a channel of blessing to his brothers, households and others. Let us be a channel of blessings to the whole world and blessed. The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of my parents, up to the bounties of the everlasting hills. May they be on the head of Joseph, and on the brow of him who was set apart from his brothers?
