PATIENCE

PATIENCE

HEBREWS: 10:36:- For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

Dear children of God Today we are going to receive the gift of Holy Spirit, what is promised called patience. The Greek term for patience in the NT is interpreted as follows: Not to give room to anger; not doing anything out of haste and tension; to bear with the wrong doing of others. Patience is deeper than sea. Patience is the beauty of the Christians or the believers. Patience becomes ridicule in the fast moving world.
Once I have visited the jail and an inmate told about his life history, he wept and said that in one minute, I lost my patience and killed my wife. So now my family is being called as murder family. Cain lost his patience and killed his own brother Abel. Now we live in the hasting world. People have no time to wait and get things. Every thing should be done in haste and harried. Long suffering is another term connected with this word patience. It occurs 13 times in NT. God’s long suffering highlights his loving wish that none should perish but all should come to repentance.

In PS 40:1:- the psalmist says like this, I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. Yes we should not hasten for anything.

Patience is the fruit of the Holy Spirit and it is a virtue that God gifts in human beings. It gets molded under trials and temptations. The word long suffering may also mean endurance and persistence. Abraham waited long to fulfill God’s promise to receive promised son Isaac. Our children would say that we are very hungry, soon mother prepared to cook delicious food. Before the delicious food is ready, the children go to hotel to have food, then how the mother will feel. Unless and until we patiently wait to have delicious food [God’s promised gift] we lack God’s blessings and fellowship. God is ready to shower his blessings upon us. Shall we patiently wait to receive it?

Be patient, therefore, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord.  See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the later rains. You also, be patient. As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the lord is compassionate and merciful. Because of Job’s long sufferings and patient, he has received Gods’ blessings in double portion and he restored ever things.

Moses the great prophet and leader who was very meek, but when the people of Israel had murmured and rebelled against God and Moses, he lost his patience and instead of speaking to the rock, he struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock. And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, because you did not believe in me, to uphold me as holy in the eyes of the people of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly in to the land that I have given them.

Dear children of God, we should be patient to receive God’s blessings. When we lose patient in our life, we will be put into troubles and loss. Patience is God given virtue, let us use it for God’ glory and holy. Don’t be impatient to lose God promised gift.
